Commander Sheperd - Alison Gunn vers. (Mass Effect 2) @ Katsucon 2011

I love Mass Effect. Like LOVE. Seriously LOVE. I've been planning on making Kasumi Goto for a long while but I needed a ME costume NOW. F!Shep's dress is pretty do-able. I won't say easy because weird seams! Like weird! (Particularly, the back/underarm seam.)

I cut my hair so I used a wig for Fanime. Personally, I really like that hair shape. Think I might have my actual hair cut similar like that. I was so happy to see the Garrus but I was so shy I didn't have the courage to stay and chat. /fail

Rue (Magna Carta II) @ Otakon 2010

This costume was surprisingly pretty easy for me. (I must be getting used to HTK...) I love my poufy bloomer shape! I experimented with gradient dye. It's very subtle but I kinda like it that way. I also tried using pink insulation foam for the pumpkin and daggers. The daggers and pumpkin stem didn't quite make it. The pumpkin was "fixed" with wire and the daggers remade for fanime from styrene? some sort of thermoplastic I had laying around for another project and super sculpy.

I think I'll make her shuriken weapons for the next MC2 meetup.

Naoya Kirihaya (Night Head Genesis) @ Katsucon 2010

Nii-san!

Closet cosplay.

I love the protective older brother/gentle younger brother dynamic (no, not incest - don't like the incest - just the pure agape/philia love). So cute!

Miku Hatsune PoPiPo vers. (Vocaloid) @ Katsucon 2010

I wanted to like Vocaloid but couldn't really get "into" it. But PoPiPo totally charmed me! I mean, how can you not love a song about vegetable juice? YOU MUST HAVE SOME RIGHT NOW!

Yes. Green juice is my favorite. /endorsement.

Kirin Armor (Monster Hunter) @ Anime USA 2009

Monster Hunter is LOVE.
Kirin armor is CUTE.
UNICORNS. *w*

I liked playing with the different fabrics and textures on this costume. The silver bits are snakeskin print leather. Orange is upholstery velvet. Blue is snakeskin print spandex. And fur~! I love fur. I used a minky fur for most of mine because I already had some in my stash. :)

I hurriedly made a pseudo greatsword fully intending on fixing it to be accurate but never got around to it. ^^;; I don't really use great swords though so I think I'll make the sword and shield set that I actually have in game.

Mio Akiyama - Don't Say Lazy vers. (K-ON!) @ AMA 2009

I got dragged into moe-land. I was so hooked... like on a bad kdrama.

Never falling into a moe-trap again!

I think I chose a fabric too heavy for the dress. It's the first dress I fully lined so the construction is really nice. Just wish I chose a lighter fabric!

Worn again for Katsucon 2010.

Sami/Domino (Advance Wars) @ AMA 2009

Another easy/closet costume!

Sami's my favorite CO. So spunky! And her mechs are totally usable for a "Zerg" rush.

I managed to finangle Neoqueenhoneybee to cosplay AW with me for Katsucon 2010. ♥

Kya/Kaya (Avatar: The Last Airbender) @ Katsucon 2009

Neoqueenhoneybee and I were debating on who to cosplay from this show. Eventually, we decided on the mothers Kya & Ursa! We had a blast every time someone called us Katara and Azula.

A fairly simple costume. I bought the necklace so the rest was really easy peasy.

Also very comfortable and soft.

I ran out of the nice fur so I had to make do with the craft fur from Joann's. Still I think it turned out quite nicely.

Yuki Nagato - Alice vers. (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) @ Katsucon 2008

I wanted to cosplay Yuki... but not the default school uniform. I saw this illustration and thought it was cute so decided to cosplay that.

I learned:
Commercial patterns do not agree with me without some alteration.
Joann's broadcloth is sucky.
I need to learn to put on make up. (as of 2011, this statement still applies)
I need to learn to style wigs. (as of 2011, this has gotten a little better)

Lan Win Nook (Saturnalia) @ Katsucon 2008

photo credit: friend (unknown online alias)

A pretty easy costume using leftover fabrics.

The wig is actually a halloween wig! But it's a pretty good one.

Spacecoyote sent me a little marker drawing of Lan after I cosplayed him. ♥

Saturnalia was a pretty cool webcomic by spacecoyote. It's in pretty much on eternal hiatus but it's wonderful how successful spacecoyote has gotten!

I hope to support her comic Yokaiden through cosplay eventually too. x3

Puchiko (DiGi Charat) @ Katsucon 2002

My very first cosplay costume.

My dear friend, Neoqueenhoneybee, was quite excited about this event she went to and said I should go too and dress up in a costume. She had a DiGi Charat costume and her college friend was going to be Rabi-en-Rose so I got drafted into Puchiko.

I made the entire outfit except for the hat on a single stitch machine using fabrics scrounged up from my grandmother's stash. Hat was made by Neoqueenhoneybee. ♥

All in all, not a bad first costume.
