Marzana (War of Genesis 3) @ Otakon 2008

Neoqueenhoneybee and I got back into WoG3!

Oh, man. Marzana shows more chest than I have ever shown before so I was all wrapped up in my cape for most of the time I wore this.

And wig fail! I couldn't keep the wig on my head when I attached the giant gravity defying ponytail so I had to go without.

Costume-wise, I was very happy with it! The pleather, though, does need some sort of lining...

I tried out the competition. I knew I wouldn't win with an unfinished costume but the experience was eye-opening! Definitely interesting but I was so cold during the masq. Eh heh heh...

I do plan on remaking Marzana for a desert shoot sometime in 2012. Looking forward to it, in fact!

Toshiko Sato (Torchwood) @ Otakon 2008

Closet cosplay! I really like Doctor Who and it's spin offs and my hair looked about right, so why not throw on a top, jeans, and black boots and join the Torchwood crew?

Oh yes, spoiler. Sorry.

Florina (Fire Emblem) @ Otakon 2008

I tried out the foamie armor thing but I totally fail at armor! I was pretty happy with the way the wig turned out. (I cut the bangs and curled them.) And the boot covers came out pretty nicely too.

Florina cosplay (aside from armor) was very comfortable and the most comfortable thing is that I can totally be in character by being myself.

Wild Rush - Single Cover vers. (T.M.Revolution) @ NYCC 2008

When I heard that TMR would be coming for NYCC, I had to go! And make a costume! So I picked something that looked easy (Albireo sure wasn't going to be!) and rushed one out!

Yes, a wildy rushed costume. ;)

But I shook his hand in this costume. He said it was nice. I was on autopilot-mode and couldn't even lift my eyes upon the face of my idol. Uwahhh!! And I watched his concert from the first row in this costume.

So many happy memories...

Yuki Nagato - Alice vers. (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) @ Katsucon 2008

I wanted to cosplay Yuki... but not the default school uniform. I saw this illustration and thought it was cute so decided to cosplay that.

I learned:
Commercial patterns do not agree with me without some alteration.
Joann's broadcloth is sucky.
I need to learn to put on make up. (as of 2011, this statement still applies)
I need to learn to style wigs. (as of 2011, this has gotten a little better)

Lan Win Nook (Saturnalia) @ Katsucon 2008

photo credit: friend (unknown online alias)

A pretty easy costume using leftover fabrics.

The wig is actually a halloween wig! But it's a pretty good one.

Spacecoyote sent me a little marker drawing of Lan after I cosplayed him. ♥

Saturnalia was a pretty cool webcomic by spacecoyote. It's in pretty much on eternal hiatus but it's wonderful how successful spacecoyote has gotten!

I hope to support her comic Yokaiden through cosplay eventually too. x3
